UPS & DOWN
Ups and Down is an organization that aims to connect parents to children who have just been diagnosed with Down syndrome with more experienced Down families.
When a healthcare provider breaks the news to the new parents, he/she also gives them one of a series of cards featuring quotes from Down family members. These families have agreed to share their experiences, thoughts, and insights. The main message they wish to share is that having children with Down syndrome is not a curse, but a blessing.
New parents receiving the cards are encouraged to follow the link to the organization's website, where they can connect with featured families, as well as with Down families in their area.
When the child is born, the family will receive the Ups & Down teddy bear as a gift for the newborn.
